A Controlled Integrated Process
Every refractory product at Alfa Refractories travels through a rigorously controlled, in-house production chain. Our integrated facility eliminates dependency on external suppliers and ensures every step — from incoming raw material to outgoing dispatch — meets our strict quality standards.
Raw Material Procurement & Inspection
High-purity minerals including calcined alumina, mullite, andalusite, and chamotte are sourced from certified suppliers. Each incoming batch is tested for chemical composition and particle consistency before being cleared for production.
Crushing, Grinding & Sizing
Raw materials are fed through jaw crushers and ball mills to achieve precise particle size distributions. Controlled granulometry is critical for product density, porosity, and final strength.
Batch Formulation & Mixing
Pre-weighed raw material batches are blended using high-shear mixers with binders and additives. Formulations are calibrated per product specifications for each grade of shaped or monolithic product.
Forming — Pressing & Custom Shaping
Shaped refractories are formed on high-tonnage hydraulic presses. Custom profiles, arches, and special shapes are produced using precision-machined steel dies, ensuring dimensional accuracy and uniform green density.
Drying
Green (unfired) bricks are passed through controlled dryers to remove residual moisture before firing. Proper drying prevents thermal shock cracking during kiln firing and is critical for dimensional integrity.
High-Temperature Kiln Firing
Products are sintered at temperatures between 1350°C and 1600°C in our continuous tunnel kilns. The firing schedule — including ramp rates and soak times — is programmed precisely for each product grade to achieve optimal phase development and strength.
Quality Testing & Certification
Every batch is sampled from our in-house lab for Cold Crushing Strength (CCS), Apparent Porosity, Bulk Density, Refractoriness Under Load (RUL), and chemical analysis. Only certified lots proceed to dispatch.
Packing & Export Dispatch
Finished products are palletized, shrink-wrapped, and labeled with batch traceability codes. Container-load planning, fumigation certification, and export documentation are handled in-house to ensure smooth global delivery.
